Our 2016 events
March 19, 2016: Ecotrail de Paris.
After a very disrupted end to 2015, due both to the death in October of our friend Frederick Roussel, a loyal Solann Dream Team team member, and to the November attacks, which led to the cancellation of all races in the Paris region for several months, the desire to run with children took over again at the start of 2016. The Dream Team once again took to the field at the EcoTrail de Paris! Magnificent weather, a super-motivated, well-balanced and happy team of 14 team members around Solann, everything you need for a great adventure over 19 km in the forests of western Paris. Thanks to all participants, it was great fun and gave us a renewed taste for running! Well done to the runners, spectators and organizers of this beautiful 2016 edition!
September 10, 2016: Bois d'Arcy associations forum
The association presented its actions during the Bois d'Arcy town associations forum. This event is an opportunity to make the association better known locally, to create new contacts with future team members and disabled people wishing to take part in our races, but also to receive some donations.
September 25: Paris-Versailles.
A total of 26 runners, including 7 women, accompanied Romuald and Solann on the legendary 16 km route to Versailles. This year, we were joined by team members from Vanves and 95! Romuald and Solann each had a great race, with teams at two different paces waiting to cross the finish line to the cheers of enthusiastic spectators.
June 25, 2016: SolannDay
To mark 10 years of working with multi-disabled children, the association organized SolannDay at the Notre Dame Les Oiseaux school in Verneuil sur Seine. More than 600 kindergarten and secondary school children were introduced to disability, difference and fraternity at the school fête with the Solann Dream Team. Backed by a team of students from the school's BTS communication program and numerous team members, we ran some fifteen disability awareness workshops for the children and their families:
visual disability: scent bingo, blind course, blind construction (Kapla), taste and touch workshop,
verbal disability: drawing, lip-reading or sign language workshop,
motor disability: Joëlette race demo, stroller race initiation, ball games in handisport wheelchairs,
disability in general: generic and fun quizzes on disability, giant fresco to let children express themselves,
bonus activities: accrobungee trampoline and inflatable structures.
In everyone's opinion, the event was a great success, and a real opportunity for children and families to share their views on disability. A big thank you to Juliette, Laurette, Louna and Solann, sources of our motivation, for being the spokespersons for the association's actions. Thanks to the Yvelines Handisport Committee (link: ) and the Atalan company for their presence with us. And above all, a very big thank you to all those who gave of their time, energy and know-how to help the children...
September 2, 2016: Trophées du sport de Bois d'Arcy.
The Solann Dream Team association received the "Prix Spécial du Jury" Trophy from the Mayor of Bois d'Arcy to reward and encourage the team members' actions with multi-disabled children. At the Trophées du Sport aux Arcisiens ceremony at the Grange de la Tremblaye in Bois d'Arcy, the president of the Solann Dream Team association gave a brief presentation of the association and its activities.
September 11, 2016: Course de la Saint Gilles de Bois d'Arcy.
Once again this year, four children (Juliette, Laurette, Louna and Solann) were able to take part in the event supervised by 7 team members and 12 crew members. We had the pleasure of welcoming some of them for the first time, and the experience was a great success. This year, the weather was more clement, and the few drops of water did nothing to dampen the good mood, the solidarity in the effort and the pleasure shared with the children as they covered the 10 km.
November 20: Boulogne-Billancourt half-marathon.
This year, 14 Solann Dream Team members accompanied Solann on the Boulogne-Billancourt half-marathon course. With the weather finally cool but sunny, it was a great moment to share with new team-mates in a festive atmosphere.
