Solann is a different kind of young adult.
From an early age, doctors have diagnosed him with cerebral palsy.
What does this mean?
It's an umbrella term for the fact that part of Solann 's brain didn't get the blood flow it needed during his early years, resulting in very limited motor skills:
Solann can hardly move her arms and legs.
Solann can't keep her spine straight.
Solann can't use her vocal cords to speak.
Solann can't eat easily by mouth.
Solann can't learn things easily.
But alongside these little difficulties, Solann knows how to do lots of things.
Above all,Solann smiles.
Solann smiles at people who take an interest in him.
Solann smiles at anyone who speaks kindly to him.
Solann smiles at people who call him.
Solann laughs out loud when something falls on the floor.
Solann laughs at his grandmother who has trouble screwing on her corset.
Solann has a sense of humor.
Solann looks kindly at her sisters, with a small smile at the corner of her lips.
Solann runs and dances by proxy, watching them.
Solann caresses with her left hand, spontaneously or on request.
Solann wiggles and squeals when excited.
Solann is very patient.
But Solann knows how to call if he gets impatient or bored.
Solann moans when he's in pain.
Solann cries when his parents go out for the evening.
Solann is a charmer: the nurses with their syringes in their pockets, the physiotherapists who make him do breathing exercises, the optician who puts a dozen frames on his nose, Mum's friends, the center's educators, everyone just falls for him!
Solann loves sensations: little massages, paved paths that make the wheelchair vibrate, shopping in the stroller with his favorite Dream Team.
Solann has multiple disabilities...
but Solann seems happy and spreads joy and good humor to those around him.
